An elderly lady sustained an ankle injury whilst being pushed in a wheelchair in hospital.
Our client was an elderly lady who had been in hospital for several weeks. She was being pushed in a wheelchair. Ironically, it was the day when she was due to be discharged from hospital, and she was being taken to the reception area so that her relatives could collect her.
The wheelchair was being pushed at quite a speed and our client’s ankle became trapped. She sustained a nasty ankle injury and needed further medical treatment.
Her relatives consulted Dominic Goward & Co. for advice on whether she might be entitled to compensation. We were confident that she had a valid claim.
The hospital initially denied liability and we had to commence court proceedings. We were then able to negotiate a settlement; our client received £10,000.
