Accident At Work: Machine Operator Suffers
Hand Injury
Thumb injury compensation after inadequate
training for new employee

This hand injury claim was made on behalf of a machine operator who had only just started
a new job.
He was given little or no training on how to use the machine safely. After a short period of time, he caught his
hand in the machine and suffered a fractured thumb.
He came to Dominic Goward & Co. for advice and
we pursued his thumb injury compensation claim - at no cost to him.
As is often the case, there was initially a denial of responsibility from the employer's insurance company. In
fact, they claimed that our client was "the author of his own misfortune". However, once we had started Court
proceedings they were prepared to reach a settlement.
We negotiated a settlement of £4,250.00 on behalf of our client. Our own costs were recovered
separately, so he received his compensation in full.
